I'm Aby Aneja, founder and trek leader of the Being Alive adventure community — and my story is stitched together by city lights, mountain trails, camera frames, and snow-clad silence.
I was raised in Dubai, a concrete world where the horizon ends in steel and glass. But life had different plans. I found myself drawn to India — first, as a film director, chasing stories through the lens, and eventually into something much deeper: the raw, unfiltered narrative of the wild. That journey led me here — to the Himalayas, to Ladakh, to a life of wind-burnt cheeks and adrenaline-fueled climbs.
For the past 2.5 years, I've lived between Leh’s sun-splashed summers and the soul-freezing winters of Drass, where temperatures plummet to -30°C.
It’s more than just survival — it’s where my passion for adventure, sports, and storytelling fused into one mission: creating unforgettable, meaningful journeys through Ladakh’s most majestic and rugged terrain.My background in kickboxing and an unrelenting love for trekking have taken me across Ladakh’s toughest routes — from conquering the iconic Markha Valley trek to summiting Kongmaru La at 5270 meters. I’ve also endured the Sarhad Shauryathon — a grueling 44 km high-altitude marathon in Drass — finishing in 36th place among hardened local athletes.
But I’m not just a traveler. I’m a designer of experiences. I’ve spent countless days exploring uncharted valleys and forgotten trails, crafting custom trek routes that go beyond the beaten path. My aim is not just to lead — but to immerse you in stories whispered by the rocks, winds, and peaks.
One of the most intimate chapters of my life lies in Drass, a land etched in the memory of the Kargil War. I hold a deep reverence for the Indian Army, and my fascination has driven me to study its history in detail. I’ve mapped significant war peaks, documented unsung war sites, and spent seasons collecting true stories of valor and resilience from those who lived them.Alpha 01 isn’t just a title. It’s a code of honor — to lead with integrity, to push limits, and to share this incredible land with those ready to feel alive again.
